New Beginnings

Hello, and welcome to what hopefully will be a week/ monthly blog with all the latest goings on here at William Harris Restorations. Whether that be latest news about upcoming projects or maybe even some workshop upgrades as well as some short stories of the journey so far or projects that we have encountered in the past.

We pride ourselves on involving and showing you what really goes on behind the closed doors of a vintage vehicle restoration workshop, in hope that it shines a light into what goes on which you may not have known about. We all see the finished product and the glamorous side most of the time but not always the hardships or the grimy side of restorations, whereas we intend to show all aspects of what goes on and what it takes to restore these wonderful cars and preserve the history for many years to come.

For this inaugural post I’ll keep it short and sweet.

Firstly, we are finally in the new premises! (More on this in a separate post as it’s been quite the task) But it’s been one hell of a learning curve and is going to allow us to offer so much more in terms of machining and engine work as well as hopefully small group open days for those who wish to see the wonders of vintage restoration.

Secondly, some of the upcoming projects to keep an eye out for in upcoming posts. These include: 3 Litre Bentley engine rebuild; 1908 Darracq restoration; Bentley 4.5 Litre front axle rebuild and some other exciting projects we have in the pipeline… (oooo what ever could it be)

Lastly, we are hoping to shortly be offering a couple of new services.

  1. Cylinder head grinding - Soon to be added to the Machine room is a lovely grinding machine. This will mean we can skim cylinder heads, as well as blocks and many other surfaces which require an accurate finish, made possible by the machine using a grinding stone.

  2. Consultancy - Something that has been spoken about numerous times with previous clients, is why don’t we offer a consultancy service? What is this you may ask? Well in simple terms, William (myself) will happily travel anywhere globally to look at any vintage or veteran car and give the best advise possible regarding it condition and recommend any work that would need to be carried out. This could be a car that is being sold or bought. Either way, we are very thorough, as it’s important, in our minds, that cars are sold with the best knowledge of any underlying issues where it could cost to be put right.

We are so excited about the journey that is about to begin, and we cannot wait to bring you along for the ride. Whether it’s a passion already found, or one waiting to be explored, we are here to help no matter how big or small, and would love for you to be a part of the William Harris Restoration story, as it starts now.
